It is also called the hand of God and I hear it is one of the tallest towers in West Africa.

The
Assumpta cathedral is one of the largest Catholic churches in Nigeria
and is the seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese. It was built in 1948
and became an archdiocese in 1994. I was actually driving past when the
structure caught my attention.

I
hear if a criminal takes refuge here, he shall be safe till the
authorities pick him. Unconfirmed though but good to know. I will call
it the safe house of Owerri, a place where everyone is equal
irrespective of politics and religion. This is definitely the only place
in Nigeria where you are allowed to express yourself without
obstruction.

aka Bush babies are found throughout East Africa as well as in
woodlands and bushlands in sub-Saharan Africa. I heard a lot about bush
babies in Secondary School and never thought a day will come when i will
physically see it. Thank goodness, on this occasion it was in a cage.

faces.

last time I saw this much crocodiles in one place was at Ivory Coast (post for another day). For some strange reasons, immediately I stood to take a picture, they all rushed off quickly into the water.

is my first time seeing this many big crocodiles together in Nigeria. I
hear there are quite a number of crocodiles in Zuru, Kebbi State. The
last time I saw this much crocodiles in one place was at Ivory Coast (post for another day). For some strange reasons, immediately I stood to take a picture, they all rushed off quickly into the water.

Nekede zoo houses a small wildlife museum within the premises where
carcasses of dead animals are preserved. All of these animals where once
alive in the zoo. These embalmed animals include antelopes, crocodiles,
owl chimpanzees, peacock, peahen, gorilla, parrot, flying squirrel,
hyena cobra, a lion, tortoises, African civet cat, Ostrich feathers and
eggs, python.
Okay, good to know but I couldn't wait to be out.
Sadly, the caretaker kept trying to engage me with physical activities
e.g hold this ostrich egg, carry that feather etc. Though I was
impressed with the initiative, this is a complete mess and in urgent
need of a thorough revamp. Maintenance will not be sufficient in this
case.
